Real Pre-school

Our Philosophy

Waikiki Play School and child care recognises that Early Childhood is a unique and valuable stage of life and accepts that each phase within Early Childhood/ child care setting is important in its own right. We aim to provide quality service while also meeting the individual needs of our children, parents and our community. The children will be encouraged to develop their social, physical, intellectual and emotional skills in a supportive and caring environment which will not discriminate on the basis of cultural background, gender or ability.

For The Children

Waikiki Play School and child care will encourage children and staff to interact in a positive non-violent manner. We endeavour to create and maintain a safe, happy and healthy environment that enhances the children's autonomy, initiative and self-worth. We encourage the children to interact effectively and in doing so learn to balance their own rights, needs and feelings with those of others.

For The Families

We respect the special relationship between children and their families and incorporate this perspective in all our interactions with children. We strive to assist families with objective information or advice in relation to their child and endeavour to develop a positive relationship with them. All parents/carers are welcome to spend time at WPS to share experiences and ideas with the children and the staff.

For Our Staff

Our staff recognise children as individuals and have an understanding and knowledge of children and their needs. They will provide appropriate programs offering stimulating experiences within a positive and happy environment.

Our staff are warm, caring and sensitive toward families and encourage open communication.  Staffs aims to promote and raise awareness of and interest in other cultures, which will be reflected in the programs at WPS.

For the Community

We aim to respond to the ongoing and changing needs in our community by inviting other community groups to share our activities and by sharing in theirs.  We aim to support families and the community and also to collect and provide information on other community services and business interests. 

Quality Improvement System

Waikiki Play School and child care participates in the Quality Improvement System administered by the National Childcare Accreditation Council.
